About
About Mr Matthew Wilson.
Mr Matthew Wilson is a consultant hip surgeon based in Exeter, where the SPAIRE muscle-sparing approach has its roots in the work of Professor John Timperley. He offers SPAIRE where it suits the individual patient, as part of a broad hip-replacement practice.
His work spans primary hip replacement, complex primary and revision surgery, and disorders of the younger adult hip, including hip-preservation surgery. He is a founding member of the Non-Arthroplasty Hip Registry and has a particular interest in the long-term outcomes of hip surgery.
He currently serves as President of the British Hip Society, the national professional body for hip surgeons. Whether SPAIRE is the right approach for you is always decided case by case, after examination and imaging.
